Cut
ladyfingers apart in groups of three; set aside.
Combine pie filling and spices in
medium bowl. In separate small bowl or saucepan, combine raisins and rum
or orange juice. Cover and bring to a boil in microwave oven (in bowl) or
on top of stove (saucepan). Let stand 5 minutes, then stir into pie
filling.
Spread split surfaces of all
ladyfingers with sour cream. Place 8 groups of split ladyfingers on
serving plates, split sides up. Spoon pie filling on top, arranging apple
slices in single layer and allowing some of the sauce to flow over the
edges. Place remaining ladyfinger groups split side down, on top to
complete sandwiches.
Make icing by blending together the
confectioners’ sugar, butter, vanilla and milk to make a smooth spreading
consistency. Spread icing over the top of each sandwich; sprinkle with
nuts, if desired.
